Yeah valid points against my idea... I still think there is an idea that could be worked in it tho ... I will put more thought in it and come up with a more elaborate rebuttle
My problem with seperating them is MY approach to the game... which is PvE is the "training ground" ... if we changed I would have to change my paradigm ... and who wants to do that ! |

I like your "PvE is the training ground" attitude. =) I think it's very close to what the makers of GW have wanted. After all if you have beaten the game PvP is kind of the only thing left to you. =)

Once your done with the new races/professions etc. For example as i am now with Guild Wars, you would still have the same problem. You will get bored eventually once you explored the new areas, found the new skills, etc. And since there wont be a raise in the level cap (as far as i know) you wont become any stronger. And if they are so "original" with the creatures as they are now, you would only get exactly the same looking creatures just with a differend name & level. Same goes for items, weapons & armor. The skills are nearly all the same, for example some stances as a warrior would give you 5 energy if you blocked a melee attack, the other would give you Adrenaline & energy. A better skill yes, but exactly the same principle. I would rather have LESS skills that are more original then yet another 100 skills which are nearly exactly the same as the one you already have in the so called expansion. Also, some skills that are "elite" hardly differ from a normal skill, in looks, and in stats. This game still needs work, you may disagree, and perhaps the expansion will blow this away......however i doubt it. |

I also respect your opinion, but I think you seem to misunderstand the concept of MMORPGs altogether. I mean - in EVERY SINGLE one there's an end to the adventures designed by the programmers and the rest continues just by interacting with your friends and other players. GW gives you such an opportunity - e.g. through the PvP system.
The skill system is also unique - you say that there are always several similar skills - this is very true and wonderful about GW. I suppose you haven't heard anything of Magic the Gathering, have you? Or at least you have never played it, right? Well, I have - even on tournaments. My nickname is taken directly from the game. =) What you have in MtG are THOUSANDS of cards - as you imagine many of them are doing about the same thing with just a TINY difference (e.g. one point of mana more or 1 point of mana less makes a HUGE difference in gaming terms but it does not appear so). GW is just the same - there are many similar skills and yet only one version of a given skill will suit a certain combo perfectly - be it a lower casting time, or more damage, or less energy to spend - it's VERY important to see the fine differences. I AM a skilled and experienced MtG player and maybe that's why I'm feeling like a fish in the water in the GW skill system - I see the ups and downs of each skill kind of intuitively. As for the monsters - I have yet to see a MMORPG in which the monsters AREN'T quite similar to each other. I don't like GW compared to e.g. Diablo, because it's not the same game, but you will surly remember that in Diablo 1, which I was playing FOR YEARS the monsters differed from each other only by their colors. =) And yes - you would beat the game on and on and on again and it would never get old. I think Diablo's long lasting success might be the same thing that happens to GW and the expansions will only make it greater. |

Here's a quick thought.
Expansions are planned for the game, right? And those Expansions wont start being released for a good 4 or so months right? So why would they want you to be able to level up to 100 during that time, and make the Expansions so easy there's no point in playing them? Its limiting you until its time for you to get stronger. |

ANet never announced that the lvl cap will be raised FOR SURE - they claim they MIGHT consider it - nothing else. But getting to lvl 30 or 40 would take some time - I don't like the idea. :-P
